Lois Maxine Fortune, 82, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 20, 2010, following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Oakland Church of Nazarene, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. David King. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial: 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park, Burlington. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, is handling arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Truman; her daughters, Carol (Bill) Myers of Cedar Rapids, and Teresa (Bill) Christie of Olathe, Kan.; five grandchildren, Christy (Jason) Drummond of Olathe, Cherie (Filipe) Magueja of St. Louis, Mo, and Brent (Laurie) Myers, Hollie Christie and Justin (Rachel) Christie, all of Olathe; and six great-grandchildren, Aidan, Simone, Sam, Marin, Luka and Brynn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jackie Peterson; and her uncle, Carl.

Lois was born June 25, 1927, the daughter of Lester and Lena (Eggelston) Pence, in Memphis, Mo. On Dec. 25, 1946, she was united in marriage to Truman Fortune. For 20 years, Lois worked for General Electric in Burlington, Iowa, retiring in 1989. Lois was a woman of faith and a longtime member of the Church of the Nazarene. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and compassionate friend.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakland Church of the Nazarene, Cedar Rapids.
