Carol Arbtin, 84, passed away the morning of Wednesday, July 4, 2012, in Kirkland, Wash.

Carol was born to Frances and Anna (Brown) Meek in Des Moines, Iowa, and graduated from East High School.

She married Emil Arbtin on Sept. 15, 1946.

She graduated from Graceland College in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in fine arts.

Carol was a very busy mother raising five boys. She was involved for many years in the Idaho Falls Art Guild and International Toastmistress. She was president of the Idaho Falls Art Guild several times. She was also president of the regional Toastmistress. Carol was honored for her service in these communities. Her talents for art included watercolors, acrylics, oils, batik and clay pottery. She contributed to the success and promotion of the arts in southeastern Idaho.

Carol and her husband, Emil, retired in 1992. During their retirement, they traveled around the U.S. and abroad until finally settling in Washington state.

Carol is survived by her five sons, Keith, Doug, Craig, Bruce and Curt; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Wilma Whitehurst.

The memorial service will be held Monday, July 23, at Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Des Moines, Iowa.

Carol will be missed greatly.
