Died at 4 p.m. Saturday at Lallie Kemp Memorial Hospital in Independence. He was 83, native of Burnsville, Miss., and a resident of Hammond. He was a retired farmer. Body at Thomas Memorial Chapel in Hammond. Religious services at Natalbany Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Bobby Thompson officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery in Hammond. Survivors include his wife, Sarah V. Mounce Amerson of Hammond; three sons, Bill Amerson of Independence, Edward Amerson of Oakland, Calif., and Doyle Amerson of Hammond; five step-sons, Ernest Carroll of Paducah, Ky., Willie Carroll of Elwood, Ind., Gradie Carroll of Pumpkin Center, Lloyd Carroll of Kenner, and Ed Carroll of Amite; seven daughters, Mrs. Wilma Gooch, Mrs. Hattie Stark, Mrs. Bertell Petty, all three of Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. Betty Case of Tickfaw, Mrs. Frankie Santangelo of Independence, Mrs. Thelma Stephens of Starkville, Miss., Mrs. Christine Hester of Kosciusko, Miss.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Sadie King of New Orleans and Mrs. Mattie Meades of Pumpkin Center; a sister, Mrs. Dora Hall of Corinth, Miss.; a brother, George Amerson of Sheffield, Ala.; 26 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 38 step-grandchildren and 27 step-great-grandchildren.
