Mary L. Meadows, 75, of Tuppers Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, while residing at Cedar Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center during an extended illness.

Mary Lou was born on May 22, 1929, to Lawrence and Ethel Painter. She is preceded in death by her parents; and two cherished brothers and their wives, Charles and Florence Painter and Ronald and Ilene Painter, all of Fayette County.

Mary Lou is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband of 61 years, Milton "Buford" Meadows; three children, Don Meadows of Liberty, W.Va., Diana Meadows Parsons of St. Albans, Milton Meadows of Sissonville; and brother, Jerry Painter and his wife, Wanda, of Marmet.

Mary Lou was blessed with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The youngest grandchild, Cody Meadows, has been raised by Mary Lou and Buford since he was a toddler. The other cherished grandchildren are Garrett Meadows of Hurricane, Jeff Parsons of St. Albans, Maschelle Parsons Kirkhart of South Charleston, Rhondell Meadows Miller of Franklin, Ky., and Stacy Parsons of N.Y., N.Y. Her great-grandchildren are Sarah and Garrett Meadows Jr., Christine and Rachel Kirkhart, Bennett Miller, Cole, Alan, Jacob and Emma Parsons. She has eight beloved nieces and nephews. It was often said that Mary Lou had the heart and soul of a child, and it's certain that she was never happier than when she was with her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her joyful spirit shines through them all.
