Eastern Arizona Courier posted Aug 29, 2012; Raymond Dean Crum, 76, passed away peacefully in Chandler on Aug. 18, 2012, at Hospice of the Valley (Dobson Home). He was born in Franklin on Sept. 8, 1935, to Lucinda Mortensen and Thomas R. Crum. He met his wife, Carrie Jean, while attending Eastern Arizona College and was married for time and eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple on Aug. 20, 1955.
He enjoyed playing basketball for the Eastern Arizona College team in his younger years, was a Scout leader and chief of the Gila Neblett and Virden, N.M., fire departments. He was the host of Brentwood Church Camp for a few years, enjoyed his many church callings and especially learning and researching genealogy. He retired from Phelps Dodge as a journeyman boiler maker. He loved hunting, camping and being outdoors, playing cards with family and friends, the annual game of Cootie, dancing and singing.
He and his wife loved teaching all the kids how to dance country style.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lucinda and Thomas; sisters, Kathryn and Mary Lou; brother, Thomas Roy; and wife, Carrie Jean.
He is survived by his four children, Jeanine Crum, Dean (Trish), Randy (Pam) and Julie (Kelly Bradshaw); 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Elizabeth Crum Clouse and Marion LaRue Crum (Netta); nieces and nephews, Charles Richardson (Sue), Tommy Richardson (Diane), Marie Larson (Nolan), Sharlene Jensen (Buddy) and Vern Richardson (Brenda).
There will be a family viewing Saturday, Sept. 8, at noon, with funeral services at 1 p.m., burial at the Virden Cemetery and luncheon at 3 p.m. at the Duncan LDS Stake Center in Duncan.
