The Rev. James Rankin Roach, 95, of Hilton Head, S.C., formerly of Ravenswood, WV, passed away December 11, 2019 in Walterboro, S.C. Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2019, at First Baptist Church, Ravenswood, with Pastor Toby Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow in the Ravenswood Cemetery with military honors by the Jackson County Honor Guard. Arrangements provided by Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood.Rev. He was born July 31, 1924 in Hartford, WV, a son of the late Elmer and Vina (Edwards) Roach. His wife, Erma (Ord) Roach; brothers, Ray, Ralph, Randall, Robert, Russell, Radford and Rex Roach; sister, Peggy Ruth preceded him in death.

He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a graduate of Salem University and was a retired minister with 70 years in the ministry. He was minister in several local churches such as Fairplain, Calvary Baptist Church in Ravenswood, Mill Creek and Grasslick Churches, Belleville Baptist, Christian Brethren, Mason, WV, United in Christ Church, Cottageville and the Fairview Bible Church, Gibbstown Community, Mason County. Rankin, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Survivors include his daughters, Marlene Goodrum of Marietta, GA, Ramonda Bellegia and her husband Jule of Hilton Head, SC and Pelma Wolfe of Hilton Head, SC., 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Marie, Betty Ann and Lorna June.

Service will be 1 p.m. ~ Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the First Baptist Church, Ravenswood, WV, with Pastor Toby Wagoner officiating. Burial will follow in the Ravenswood Cemetery with military honors by the Jackson County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
