Mickey Dorin passed away surrounded by his family at the age of 76 on August 21, 2012. He was born the son of Wesley and Juanita Dorin and lived his entire life in Lansing, MI. He graduated from Lansing Eastern High School, Class of 1954. As a young man he served in the Army National Guard, began a life-long career in the automotive repair and parts business, and committed his love and life in marriage to Mary Jo Dorin (Wolf) in 1960. He owned and operated Mickey's Auto Supply for over 40 years, and was a life-long member of Olivet Baptist Church.
Mickey enjoyed music, especially youth wind bands, and played clarinet until his recent illness. He passionately supported Eastern High School Bands throughout the 1970's and the 1980's. More recently, he volunteered his time assisting with music education at Fairview Elementary School. He spent many fall Saturdays at Spartan Stadium, and told many a joke on the golf course and at the bowling alley. He loved spending time with his grandchildren in both Florida and Michigan. Grandpa Dorin was always happy to take you to school, put-on the worm and take-off the fish, or just watch you swim.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Juanita Dorin; wife, Mary Jo Dorin; 2 brothers, Kenny Dorin and Wesley Dorin; and son, Jeffrey Dorin. Mickey is survived by 2 daughters, Danna (Rex) Peterson of Florida and Jody Seaton of Lansing; 2 sons Dennis Dorin of Lansing and Craig (Tammy) Dorin of Holt; daughter in-law Margaret Dorin of Lansing; 3 brothers, Larry Dorin, Jim Dorin and Raymond Dorin; 2 sisters, Sally Quirin and Deanna (Larry) Cook; 11 grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Wesley, Joseph, Mitchell, Jordyn, Shelby, Kaitlyn, Jonah, Duncan "DJ", Bailey, Jayce Milton; family friend Don Comisky; and many cherished nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 27, 12pm (noon) at the Gorsline-Runciman Co Lansing Chapel, 900 E Michigan Avenue, Lansing, with the Rev. Edgar L. Owens, Pastor of Olivet Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Chapel Sunday August 26th from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the Olivet Baptist Church Children's Camp Fund, 5455 Willoughby Rd, Lansing, MI, 48911, in memory of Mickey Dorin.
