Thomas Jefferson Case was born in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, February 24, 1828 and died August 8, 1904, aged 76 years, 5 months and 15 days. He came from Pennsylvania to Holmes county Ohio with his mother when three years old, He was left without father, mother, sister or brother when he was only 12 years old. In September, 1837 be came to Fulton County and has always lived in Clinton township. He was one of the oldest citizens in the township.
He united with the M. E. church when 20 years of age and has been at a true follower of Christ whom he trusted and praised to the end. He was united in marriage to Delphia Jane Gleason November 17, 1850. To this marriage were born 4 children, one girl and three boys. The daughter died in infancy. The wife and sons remain to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father.
When the War of the Rebellion broke out in 1862 he answered his country's call and served until 1865. He sustained severe injuries while doing duty and from which he never fully recovered. For the past seventeen years his suffering has been great.
Having been an orphan without a home he knew how to pity the orphan and the needy and no one was ever turned from his door hungry or in want. He was a father to three orphan girls whom he raised from childhood to womanhood: Mrs. E. T. Prickett of Pomona, Cal., Mrs. Thos. Mikesell of Wauseon and Mrs. Jacob Ellenwood of Lambertville, Mich.
Funeral services were conducted at the residence on North Clinton street at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon by Rev Higbie assisted by Rev G. H. Wolcott. Burial in the Wauseon cemetery.
