Richard Julius Moede, 93, of Willowdale Nursing Home, New Holstein, formerly
Reedsville, died Sunday, February 24, at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton,
following a short illness.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Grace Chapel, New Holstein. The
Rev. V.N. Hillstead will officiate with burial to follow at Zion Evergreen
Cemetery, Reedsville.
Mr. Moede was born June 14, 1891, in the Town of Rockland, son of the late
Albert and Minnie Schley Moede. He married the former Ruth Wenzel on November 9,
1915, at Potter. Mr. Moede was a fur rancher for 53 years in the Reedsville area.
Mr. Moede was a Deputy Sheriff for Manitowoc County for several years. He was a
lineman for the new Rockland Telephone Company for 15 years and for the past 7
years lived with his son and daughter-in-law, Denver Moede in New Holstein. Mr.
Moede was a member of Grace Chapel Assembly of God Chruch, New Holstein.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Denver and Ruth Ann Moede of
New Holstein and Ralph and Florence Moede of Reedsville; a daughter, Mrs.
Evangeline Andrews of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; a brother, Arnold Moede of
Reedsville; two sisters, Alice Busse and Elfrida Darling, both of Manitowoc; 12
grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren and 4 step
great great grandchildren also survived. He was preceded in death by his wife,
a daughter, two sisters and a brother.
Friends may call at Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion, after 4 p.m Wednesday evening
at the funeral home.
