Lona Arnold Akers, 91, of Max Meadows (Piney Community), died Sunday, December 25, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Edward Crockett Arnold and Maggie Myrtle Arnold.

She attended Piney Mission Church and was retired from Mt.View Nursing Home and she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Malcolm Akers, son, Jimmy Akers, brothers, Peyton Arnold, Adrian Arnold, sisters, Daisy Dunford, Dolsie Fisher.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Josephine and Sam Poole, of Max Meadows; grandchildren and spouses,
Paul and Keesty Moore, of Max Meadows, Rick and Lisa Poole, of Max Meadows; great-grandchildren, Chad and Danielle Moore-Eversole; Matthew A. Moore, Lynzi
K. Poole, Jonathan M. Poole; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be Wednesday 2 p.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Don Crockett and Jack King with the interment in the Akers Family
Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Grubb Funeral Home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. or at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Josephine and Sam Poole at
598 Ivanhoe Road, Max Meadows, at anytime. Grubb Funeral home is in charge of
arrangements.
