Bonnie C. (Lee) Becker

...Bonnie C. (Lee) Becker, 62, unexpectedly departed this life on August 23, 2012 at her home in Springfield, Oregon. She was born February 23, 1950 in Harrisonville, the daughter of Robert E. and Ermil (Davenport) Lee.
...Bonnie grew up in Pleasant Hill and graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1968. After graduation, she worked at Western Electric in Lee's Summit, where she met Randy Becker and on June 4, 1972, they were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill. They celebrated their 40th anniversary in Hawaii with their daughter Kathy and her family.
...In 1974, Bonnie and Randy moved to Galva, Kans., where they lived in and remodeled a 1900s farmhouse, which had belonged to Randy's grandmother. Bonnie enjoyed the challenge.
...In 1976, their daughter Kathy was born, and in 1977, their son John was born. For many years, she decorated elaborate birthday cakes for her children's birthdays.
...In 1987, work required the family to move to Oregon. Bonnie had to adjust to the Northwest cold, different from the warm beaches in Southern California. Her experience with the Midwest's temperature extremes helped her learn to love the Northwest, despite the rain.
...In the 1990s, she became friends with an international student, Augustina, from Indonesia. She later traveled to Jakarta, Indonesia to attend Augustina's wedding.
...Bonnie accepted Christ as her savior at age seven. She was faithful to our Lord and a servant to others. Bonnie and her family began attending First Baptist Church of Eugene, Oregon in 1987.
...Bonnie enjoyed growing and arranging flowers. She worked for several area florists. Her natural talent for decorating and choosing color was evident in the quilts, crafts and flowers in her home.
...Her favorite color was always purple. "The Purple People Eater" was a favorite song. She has passed her love of the color purple to her granddaughter Madison.
...Bonnie enjoyed quilting with her friends in "Sisters in Stitches," a group that makes baby quilts for babies and elderly and put on quilt shows at her church. Once a year, they hosted a Teddy Bear picnic where the children created a sewing project. Bonnie enjoyed sewing, baking and picking flowers with all four grandchildren.
...She also enjoyed her yearly visit with her sister, Sandy Scott. They were excited to see how many new crafts or ideas they could share during their week together. Bonnie also remained close with several childhood friends.
Bonnie's mom, Ermil, was adventurous and creative and encouraged the girls to always try new things and learn something new each day.
...One little known fact is that Bonnie was a NASCAR fan, and she was planning her October trip to Pleasant Hill to coincide with the Kansas race..
...She kept a positive attitude despite the fact that her health was not always the best.
...Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Robert "Bob" Lee on November 27, 1982, and her step-father, James "Jim" Stowe on July 22, 2000.
...She is survived by her husband, Ranford "Randy" Becker of Springfield, Ore.; her mother, Ermil Stowe of Pleasant Hill; one son, John Becker of Eugene, Ore.; one daughter, Kathryn Becker-Blease of Philomath, Ore.; one sister, Sandra Scott of Pleasant Hill, four grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
...A memorial service was held August 27, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Eugene. A memorial service will be held in Pleasant Hill in October and will be posted on Wallace Funeral Home's website, www.wallace-funeralhomes.com.
Contributions in memory of Bonnie may be made to Camp Harlow, which is sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Eugene, Oregon.
