Betty Jacqueleen (McCann) Lowers, 84, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully, Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at her residence. Betty is formerly of New Kensington. Betty was born March 18, 1928, in Greensboro, a daughter of the late Eva Virginia (Carpenter) and Russell Ray McCann. She was a homemaker all her life but she had worked for a number of years as a dispatcher for the city of New Kensington. She had attended the United Methodist Church in New Kensington. Betty enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, William Donald Lowers; their three sons, Donald Russell (Linda) Lowers, of Niota, Tenn., Robert William (Diane) Lowers, of Arnold, and Randy Thomas Lowers, of Niota, Tenn. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Elizabeth Carol Wilson, of Bedford. She was preceded by her three brothers, William Ray, Lindley Lon and Emerson Clayton McCann. Family and friends will be received from noon to 2 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. Viewing will continue from 9 until the time of services at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Edd Myers, of Freeport United Methodist Church, officiating.
