Warren Hardenbergh was son of Cornelius Low Hardenbergh & Mary Warren of New Brunswick, and was a prominent lawyer and real estate broker at New York and subsequently at New Brunswick. He graduated from Rutgers College and was Secretary of the Board of Trustees of said college 1849-59 and for several years Commissioner of Public Works for the city of New Brunswick. He summered at the Jersey Shore during the latter years of his life as he believed the sea air was good for his failing health.

* Gerard Rutgers Hardenbergh (1856-1915), married Charlotte Louise Whitehead (1870-1927), daughter of Henry Whitehead and was a noted ornithologist and artist, with bird paintings being some of his most noted works. Gerard and his wife summered for 18 years at Bay Head, NJ. He died at Bay Head on August 19, 1915 and was buried in Stonington, New London, CT.
* Elizabeth Rutgers Hardenbergh (1858-1934) was a noted artist, painter and ceramicist. She never married and maintained a studio in NYC. She was a member of the New York Watercolor Club, the National Association of Women painters and Sculptors, the New York Society of Ceramic Artists, and the New York Society of Painters. Elizabeth died in NYC, March 31, 1934.
