Waynesboro, Nov 4 - Thomas Luther Stone, 73, died Friday afternoon at 3:10 o'clock in the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Hospital in Clifton Forge where he had been critically ill for the previous 2 days.
Mr. Stone was born December 28, 1876 in Fishersville, a son of the late Henry and Martha Rowe Stone. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann Coffey Stone in 1928.
An employee of the C&O Railway for 48 years, Mr. Stone had retired from his post 2 years ago. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, a lifetime member of the Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, and a 50-yr member of Lee Lodge 209 AF&AM of Waynesboro.
Surviving are three sons, Henry A. Stone and Thomas L. Stone, Jr. of Fishersville, and Harman D. Stone of Clifton Forge; three daughters, Mesdames George McCrea, Douglas Biby and Ann Phillips, all of Fishersville;
Two brothers, J.W. Stone of Goshen and L.R. Stone of
Schewenkville, Pa. Ten grandchildren also survive.
The body will remain at Etter Funeral Home in Waynesboro until Monday afternoon at one o'clock when it will be placed in Tinkling Spring Church where it may be viewed until the hour of service at two o'clock. The service will be conducted by Rev. Howard M. Wilson, assisted by Rev. Freeman B. Parker. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be D.D. Wood, C. A. Broughman, D. B. Jordan, C. W. Switzer, G. G. Shaver, C. W. Guthrie, C.B. Blakemore, and "Bud" Curd. Honoraries will be fellow masons and friends of the church.
Masonic rites are to be conducted at the grave by Lee Lodge 209.
