William Raymond Driver was the son of Daniel Driver & Emma E. Hammond (2nd wife) who were both born in Manchester.

William was a Civil War veteran. He was mustered on May 18, 1861 as a Pvt. into "I" Co., MA 8th Inf.; Mustered Out on Aug 9, 1861. On Dec 10, 1861 he mustered into "H" Co., MA 19th Infantry; discharged for promotion on Apr 20, 1864. He was wounded June 25, 1862, at Fair Oaks, VA. On Aug 20, he was commissioned into US Volunteers Adjutant Genl's Dept. He had many promotions, ending service as Lt. Col Apr 9, 1865, by Brevet. (American Civil War Database)

His residence was at 30 Washington St., Beverly. He was the treasurer of American Bell Tel. (Certificate of Death, Pg 181, Ln 212)
