Joseph Green Abbott Sr., age 78 of Kodak, TN passed away Friday, March 23, 2012. He was born on December 3, 1933 in Sevier County. Mr. Abbott retired from A.J. King Lumber Company. He was a hard working man throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Ellen and John Henry Abbott; brothers, J.R., John, Charles, and George Abbott; sister, Iva Woods.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years: Gladys Irene Abbott; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie and Eddie Hurst, Mary Ellen and Carl Wiley, Carolyn Jo and Greg Whaley, Rosie and Rick Gunter; son, Joseph Green Abbott Jr.; brother Johnnie Ray Abbott; sister, Rhonda Westall; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Lou Smith and staff along with the nurses from Amedisys Home Health Care and Regina Nicely.
Family and friends will meet 2 PM Tuesday at Alder Branch Cemetery for graveside service and interment with Rev. Dillard Craig and Rev. David Taylor officiating.
