Maples, Harvey George of Arkdale, Wisconsin died Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the age of 80.

Harvey (George) was born April 24, 1926 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. He was the son of Harvey J. and Adala (nee Marx) Maples.

He married Emelie Mae Fox on April 27, 1978 in Cottage Grove, WI.

Harvet retired as a pipe fitter on natural gas lines, last employed with S & Z Construction Co. in 1984. He was a life member of the Labor's union local 113 for over 50 years.

He and his wife Emelie moved to Arkdale from Mukwonagao in 1994.

Harvey spent his time by enjoying the outdoors by watching and caring for all the wildlife. He contributed to the community by volunteering his services with many various activities, Boy Scouts, and by helping others.

Harvet was a WWII Navy Veteran serving as a signalman 1st class on LST 264 in the South Pacific. He was involved in the Peleliu, Okinawa and Philippine Island liberation campaigns. Harvey received an honorable discharge on May 23, 1946. Harvey also served in the Coast Guard retiring in 1971.

This beloved Father and Grandfather's warmth, and sense of humor, will be missed by all who knew him.

Harvey enjoyed watching animals and birds. He was an avid outdoorsman.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Larry; daughter, Jane Schams and grandson, Scott Maples.

Survivors include wife, Emelie Maples of Arkdale, WI, son, Richard (Donna) Maples of New berlin, WI, son, Terry (Edelina) Maples of Pioneer, CA, son, Kenneth Maples of Houston, TX, daughter, Penny (Robert) Myatt of Merton, WI, sister, Nora Mae Frank, Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren, Mark (Pat) Maples of Milwaukee, WI, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Maples of Vernon, WI, Christopher Maples of New Berlin, WI, Leland Schams of Milwaukee, WI, Nicholas Maples of Las Vegas, NV, Nancy Myatt of Waukesha, WI, Wendy Myatt of Waukesha, WI, David (Doni) Snider of Gosnell, AR, Dean Maples of Houston, TX, Katelynn, Ashlee, Tyler Maples of Vernon, WI and Devin Snider of Gosnell, AR.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Harvey will be buried on his family's plot in Bayside Cemetery.
