HANSEN - Mary Elizabeth Stanger, 95, of Hansen, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1991, at the Twin Falls Care Center.

She was born Jan. 1, 1896, in Trenton, Utah, the daughter of John and Mary Elizabeth Walker Bingham. She was the twelfth of thirteen children and they resided in a three-room log cabin. She moved with her family from Trenton to Plain City, Utah, when she was 10 or 11 years old. It was in Plain City and West Weber, Utah, where she and William Barton Stanger began their courtship. They were married on Dec. 10, 1912, in Ogden, Utah. They moved to Idaho on April 8, 1915, with their two children, Gareld and Zelma, and they lived in a two-room shack east of Hansen. But they had lots of good times.

She was a member of the LDS Church and served as a visiting teacher in the Relief Society for 68 years. She also served as second counselor to six different Relief Society presidents and loved working in Relief Socity. She was Primary president in the Kimberly LDS Ward in 1926, and loved working with the children. She was president of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and enjoyed learning of the pioneer life of these ladies. Mary was the mother of nine children and lived a good life and was loved by many.

Surviving are four sons, Floyd V. Stanger and Cecil Stanger, both of Hansen, Leo D. Stanger of Murtaugh and Roy V. Stanger of Twin Falls; three daughters, Ina Louise Nebeker of Murtaugh, Verda Mae Johnson of Boise and Leah Gardner of Hazelton; 41 grandchildren; 114 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Aug. 8, 1951; one daughter, Zelma Wiseman; one son, William Gereld Stanger; and 12 brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kimberly LDS Stake Center, 3857 N. 3500 E., with Bishop Kent Allen conducting. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Kimberly Funeral Chapel, 712 W. Centor St., and from 10 to 10:50 a.m. on Saturday at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Primary Children's Regional Medical Center, Memorial and Honor Gift Program, 100 N. Medical Drive, Salt Lake City UT 84113.
