Ramona E. Gillett, 91, died peacefully on May 6, 2006. She was born in Wausau, Wisconsin on July 16, 1914 to the late William and Emma (Wolfe) Hafeman. She married Richard Gillett in Decorah, Iowa on January 11, 1941. Mona and Dick lived in Eau Claire, Wisconsin for over 50 years. Prior to moving to Eau Claire, Mona was an elementary school teacher in the Wausau area. Mona and Dick moved to Green Bay in 1996 to be closer to their daughter when Dick became ill.

Mona was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Eau Claire since 1947. She taught Sunday School there for many years, was a youth group leader and was involved in many church groups. She was a P.E.O. member, Chapter AP in Eau Claire and Chapter DE in Green Bay. She was also a member of the Luther Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered in the hospital's gift shop. In addition, Mona was a Red Cross volunteer for over 25 years.

Mona had a true zest for life. She always loved a good party, and was typically the first to arrive and the last to leave. She had many, many friends and cherished each and every moment she spent with them. She loved to travel and prided herself upon visiting all 50 states, not to mention Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean. She was always eager to visit new places, but some of her fondest moments were spent close to home at Post Lake and Star Lake with her family. She was truly the heart of every family gathering – always adding her spark, laughter and love, which she gave unconditionally.

Mona is survived by her daughter, Susan Murphy, Green Bay and her son, Rick, and his wife, Vicki of Star Lake, Wis. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Brian Murphy, his wife Michelle and their son, Oliver, Eagan, Minn. and Christopher Murphy and his girlfriend, Marisa Holubar, Providence, RI. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998, her parents, and all of her siblings.

Friends may call at First Presbyterian Church, 2112 Rudolph Road in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on Friday, May 12, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Eric Nielsen officiating. Graveside services will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery immediately following the Memorial Service.
