Shirley Ward, 79, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2006.

She moved to Jacksonville in 1956 from Chicago. Mrs. Ward retired as a rural carrier from the Orange Park Post Office in 1985 and was a life-time member of the Mandarin Garden Club.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Gerald Ward; son, Kenneth E. (Stacy) Ward of Yulee, FL; brothers, Albert Weiner of Country Club Hills, IL and Leonard Weiner of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Helen Kroc of Park Forest, IL; grandson, Kenneth E. (Patty) Ward and great-grandson, Kenneth E. Ward.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening, April 11, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006. Burial will follow in Mandarin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. HARDAGE-GIDDENS MANDARIN FUNERAL HOME, 11801 San Jose Blvd. is serving the family.
