Beloved MOTHER to:

Daughter -
Frances Mae (Bradley) Iams (4 children)

Sons -
Roy Edward Bradley (4 children)
Billy Lee Bradley (1 child, adopted)

1st Husband - Frank L Bradley (widowed)
2nd Husband - Frank Lee Tate ('Popie')

Our beloved Mom/ Grandma Icy was born in Missouri and moved to Kansas with her family as a young adult. They lived on a farm where life in those days was very hard and they raised their own meats, grew vegetables and fruit for food. Grandma and Popie always had cows, pigs and chickens to feed and raise for the family. They drove to cotton farms locally, to pick cotton during the depression of the 1930's to help supplement the income for the family. During the 1940's they both worked in various factories which also aided in the wartime efforts.

They churned their own butter out of the rich dairy cream using the leftover buttermilk for her biscuits and pancakes and also made cottage cheese. They also churned their delicious homemade ice cream. Grandma was an excellent cook and we always had a lot of large family gatherings, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas where the food was very plentiful. Grandma's southern fried chicken, homemade buttermilk biscuits and gravy, huge bowls of mashed potatoes, corn on the cob and pies off all kinds were really unforgettable.

We loved going out and picking the wild rhubarb, wild gooseberries and Grandma making those scrumptious pies, which she lined them up on the table.

The fishing trips and picnics were really something to remember, catching the fresh cat fish and her cooking the frog legs, which some of us kids refused to eat. She would make complete beef roast dinners and all the vegetables just to take on our 4th of July picnics!

After the food was enjoyed we would all gather around the table for playing of the many board games and poker. Grandma seemed to be the big of winner of 'Poker' and was mostly the winner of the game 'Aggravation'. The rest of us would get aggravated that she would mostly win and we would quit playing. She had this aura about her and would mostly win at the games.

Grandma was an avid crocheter and made the fine lace doilies, starch and iron them to high ruffles as high as they would stand and then displayed them on all the furniture. They were really beautiful standing up high and frilly to make her home beautiful. She also crocheted beautiful baby clothes, bathroom sets, bedspreads and afghans out of fine threads and yarns.

She was always redecorating her house with freshly painted walls/wallpaper, new curtains and flooring. She was a model housekeeper and cook.

These are just a few memories and many wonderful years of childhood and into adult years with our Grandma Icy.
