Carter W. Martin Sr., 72, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Dinwiddie County, he was the son of the late Edward A. Martin Sr. and Minna R. Williams Martin. He is survived by his wife, Irene Sprouse Martin of Colonial Heights; two sons, David A. Martin of Chester and Carter W. Martin Jr. of Shawboro, North Carolina; a daughter, Linda Faye Adams and husband, Thomas of Columbia, Maryland; five grandchildren, Lisa Jenkins-Kosinski and husband, Steven, Ted Adams, Tami Martin, Mary Momme and husband, Scott and Robert Martin; two sisters, Lois Thompson and Clara Lewerenz; a brother, Edward Arthur Martin Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012 in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association – Greater Richmond Chapter, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060.
