Marquis D' Lafayette Reading son of William and Elizabeth Ann Reading. He was born in Steuben Co., New York in 1837. His sibling are: Margaret, Elizabeth Ann, Mary, George W., John Wesley, and Andrew H. He moved from Steuben, New York to Knox Co., Ohio with parents and sibling in 1840 until 1860. He was a Civil War Veteran. He served the years Bet. August 13, 1862 - July 07, 1865 at age 24 with the 96th Ohio Infantry Regiment, Company B and C, Rank-Private. Then in 1870 moved to Bellville, Richland Co., Ohio. A few years later married his wife Emily J. Gerhart on April 08, 1872 at the home of Mrs. Mary Weaver by Rev. H. Faus. They had one daughter Bella A. Reading born September 1882. He has also lived in Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri and Kansas before he came to Los Angeles, California were he died at age ~92 years.
