From the Bates County Democrat, September 15, 1949 - "Rome Ross Daniel, son of Allman Daniel and Jennie Silvers, was born September 5, 1888 near Butler, Missouri. He departed this life in the Bell Memorial Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, September 12, 1949, at the age of 61 years and seven days. He had been in failing health for the past several months. He was married to Ada Blanche DeWeese on March 15, 1913, who passed away February 6, 1926. To this union three children were born: Doris Marie Laurence pf Gary, Indiana; Mildred Kathryn Daniels, who was killed in an accident in Kansas City, November 11, 1935; and John Ross Daniel of Butler, Missouri. He was later married to Mayme Ann Seig on September 13, 1939, who survives him. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Beulah Davis of Denton, Texas, and Mrs. Eulalia Newhouse of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one brother, Frank Daniel of Butler, Mo.; and two step-daughters, Mrs. Virginia Harris and Mrs. Genevie Thomas of Kansas City. Also three grandchildren. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will sadly be missed by all his friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, September 15 at 2:00 at the Culver-Underwood Chapel in Butler with burial in Fairview Cemetery."
