The marriage was a surprise to the people, especially the friends of the groom, who thought he was a confirmed bachelor.
In 1891, Mrs. Alice Mills filed for divorce against her husband, Louis Mills. The couple decided to stay married. In 1898, Mr. Louis E. Mills filed for divorce on two separate occasions from Mrs. Alice Mills. The divorce was granted.
Mr. Mills died at his home near Belknap. He was an old citizen of the county and well respected. His remains were buried in the Belknap cemetery.
Survived by brother - Christopher Columbus "C.C." Mills of Throckmorton, Texas.
His mother, Mrs. Rena Mills married James George on 10 March 1861 at Belknap, Texas.
