Marjorie L. English, 87, of Callaway, died on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Callaway District Hospital in Callaway. Services will be on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Sumner East Campus. Pastor Ken Hutson will officiate and burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Oconto, NE Cemetery. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie was born on April 28, 1931 in Callaway, NE to Myron and Josephine (Lichtenberger) Hopkins. She attended Callaway High School and graduated with the class of 1949. She began teaching school shortly after high school and taught for 2 years. She married James Hanson on June 28, 1950 in Callaway. To this union three children were born; Monte, Rosalee and Dawn. Marjorie and James farmed and ranched in the Custer County area until his death in 1997. Marjorie also worked briefly as a Nurses Aid at the Broken Bow Hospital. She married Gerald English on January 10, 2013 in Trenton, MO. Marjorie and Gerald settled on a farm near Sumner. He preceded her in death in 2017. Marjorie enjoyed reading, dancing and spending time with her family.

Surviving relatives include her son, Monte Hanson of Callaway; daughters, Rosalee (Harry) Rogan of Callaway and Dawn Hanson (Stephen Pollard) of Sedalia, MO; foster son, Donald McNulty of Sandy, UT; step son, Dan (Kathy) English of Kearney; sister, Harriett Barnes of Gothenburg; sisters in law, Laura Wilcox of Valencia, CA and Mildred Wilson of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Ami Diaz, Erik Zeller, Adrian Robertson, Trisha Hanson and Shelly Hanson; 4 step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; numerous other extended family and friends.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husbands, James Hanson and Gerald English; sister, Alice Barnes; brother, Leslie Hopkins; sister in law, Evelyn Jennings; brothers in law, Bob Hanson and H.R. Hanson
