Mary Ruth Nelms, of 126 Pine Cone Drive, died Monday, April 6, 2009. She was a native of Granville County, attended Louisburg College and she retired as Clerk of Granville County Superior Court after 42 year. She was the daughter of the late Edmund and Blanche Adcock Clark. She was a member of Oxford Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, John K. Nelms of the home; one son, John K. Nelms, Jr. and wife, Autney of Raleigh; two grandchildren, John K. Nelms, III, Anna Clark Nelms; and one sister, Ann Clark Sellers of Naples, FL. Funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2009 from Oxford Baptist Church by Dr. J. Steven Bolton. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation for the family will be Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Gentry-Newell and Vaughan Funeral Home, 503 College Street and at other times at the home. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Oxford Baptist Church, P.O. Box 398, Oxford, NC 27565.
