Funeral services for Lena Mae Rye Banister, 86, of Cadiz, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home.

The Revs. Harry Lewis and Ray Mullen officiated. Burial followed in Trigg Memory Acres in Cadiz.

Mrs. Banister died of natural causes at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at her residence in Cadiz.

Mrs. Banister was born Saturday, January 26, 1924, in Logan County. She was the daughter of the late Robert Hill and Mary Nellie Isabelle Johnson Rye.

Mrs. Banister was retired from Trigg County Hospital with 23 years of service as an LPN. She was a member of the Cadiz United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Ray Banister; two brothers, Robert Ray Rye and Charles Riley Rye; and one niece, Joan Parrent Payne.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Lemuel James Banister, Jr. of Cadiz; one son and daughter-in-law, Carey David and Diane Banister of Cadiz; grandchildren Drs. Jason and Karen Banister of Paducah and Carrie Banister of Cadiz; great grandchildren Sarah Banister, David Banister and Samuel Banister, all of Paducah; great nieces Elizabeth Ann Hayes and Julia Lynn Haun, both of Gallatin, Tenn.

Serving as pallbearers were James Otis Skinner, Hollis Alexander, John R. Vinson, III, Paul Godwin, Scott Sanders, Burton Aldridge, Buddy Sivills and Butch McElwain.

Pam Witty, organist, provided the music.
