I found a death date and place of death for Henry T. Blakely thru his wife Martha filing for a widows pension in 1916 in Pulaski Co. AR. Henry was the older brother of my Woods hubby's g.g.gr.mother Martha Blakely Woods.
I decided to make this memorial for Henry for I'm sure he's buried in this cemetery and I could find no other memorial for him. His wife Martha Price Blakely is buried in this cemetery in an unmarked grave, also his sons Henry and Joseph.
I've also never been able to find a marriage record for Henry and Martha but do know they had to have married in or around Choctaw Co. MS about 1855. There are many missing marriage records for Choctaw Co. MS in this time period. Henry was the first child of his Blakely parents named after his maternal gr.father Henry Caffey. I believe Henry's middle name was either Templeton from his paternal gr.father or Thompson after his maternal gr.mother's maiden name. I've never been able to find proof of Henry's middle name, only the initial T.
Henry was also in the Confederate Cavalry in the Civil War, has him as H.T. Blakely so I've put a muster roll card on here for him.
Henry's Blakely parents were Ellis Eli and Elizabeth (Betsy) Caffey Blakely, they moved to Choctaw Co. MS c1844 after having several children in Guilford Co. North Carolina where they married in 1828. Henry has 2 more younger siblings born in Choctaw Co. MS after their move West.
Henry and Martha moved to DeSoto Co. MS before 1860, maybe right after they married. I don't believe they married in DeSoto Co. for both of them were living with their parents in 1850 Choctaw Co. MS before they married. As close as I can figure they moved to Arkansas c1875 after their last child Joseph, that I know about, was born.
The 1900 Fourche Twp., Pulaski, AR census has that Henry and wife Martha, who is listed as a widow on this census, had 9 children and by 1900 with only 4 living. The 1910 census also shows Henry and Martha had 9 children with 4 living. So this was sons Henry & Joseph and daughter Lou Emma. I don't know yet who was the 4th living child in 1900 & 1910 so far.
Henry and Martha had other children that I believe died as children or babies, they were son William Robert, daughter M.J., maybe Mary Jane, son Thomas and daughter Ruth. This makes 4 more children so there is a missing child that didn't appear on the census, probably died as a baby, those were very hard times for children to survive back then.
So this is what I know about Henry T. Blakely and if anyone finds this memorial and are descended from Henry please contact me. My email is available on this site and I keep it up to date, Kay.
