Jerry Walton Adams of Belmont died Feb. 8, 2010, at his residence.
He was born in Elberton, Ga. to Marvin and Montine Adams on Aug. 11, 1939.
Jerry was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Belmont.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father. An avid bowler for many years and a wonderful fun-loving friend. He retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary McLean Adams; sisters, Mary Lee Seymour, Kathyrn Holt; brothers, Bill, Travis, Eugene, Ronald and Joe Adams.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Larry D. & Christy Gambrell Adams of Kathleen, Ga.; daughter & son-in-law, Rebecca & Timothy Parker of Gastonia; grandchildren: Kelly Jo Rivera, Daniel Parker, Ben & Hannah Holland, Kalie Ball, Amber Ball, Justin Ball and Aaron Parker; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Medley, Carolyn & Larry Wells of Gastonia.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont Bumgardner Chapel with Pastor Tim Parker officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
There will be a private family burial at Gaston Memorial Park.
