Mrs. Ada Mae Artis was born November 29, 1938 in Cuba, Alabama, the daughter of Henry McElroy and Lela Gibbs. Mrs. Artis was a resident of Flint. At the tender age of 15 she married T.B. Artis, Jr. In the course of their marriage they had seven children, Robert, Hurbert, Susie, Sandy, Calvin, Edward and Rosemary. Ada enjoyed fishing, cooking, singing and she really enjoyed being with her family. She was a very humble and kind woman. There was nothing that she wouldn't give you. Ada would give you the shirt off her back and her last dime if you needed it.

She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, T.B. Artis, Jr.; 3 daughters, Susie Mae (Donald) Russell, Sandy Diane (Clinton) Ashford, Jr. and Rosemary Artis; 4 sons, Robert Artis, Jr., Hurbert Lee (Pat) Artis, Calvin Lee (Tenesha) Artis and Edward Clinton Artis; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mary Walker, Lottie McElroy, both of Flint, Donnie Donaby and Evelyn (Henry) Bennett, all of St. Louis, MO; 3 brothers, Henry McElroy of Flint, Jimmy McElroy of Merridian, MS and Robert Lee McElroy of Youngstown, OH; aunt, Gracy Gibb of York, AL; sister-in-law, Minnie Lee Artis; brother-in-law, Wayne Artis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including God-moma, Mama Dale and best friend, Mary Sawyer.

Mrs. Artis was preceded in death by her parents, Henry McElroy and Lela Gibbs; grandson, Edward Williams; 2 great-grandchildren, Alexis Horn and Chasity Clements; grandparents; Brown and Liza McElory; sisters, Sarah Lard, Alice Washington and Rosemary Collins; nephews, Jerry Walker and Julius McElroy; and brothers-in-law, Oscar Lee Washington and Charles Donaby.
