Funeral services will be at Gayville Lutheran Church in Gayville, South Dakota with Reverend Ralph Egbert officiating. Burial will be in the Danish Cemetery in Gayville.
Pallbearers are Denny Sundleaf, Dominic Hans, Ray Epp, Craig Jepsen, Ron Miller, and Larry Skove. Honorary pallbearers are Nedra's grandchildren: Kristi Van Hauen, Steph Tamisiea, Kyle Kaufman, Travis Kaufman, and Jeremy Tamisiea.
Nedra Kaufman was born February 22, 1924 in a sod house on her grandparents' farm just south of Burke, South Dakota. When she was 12 years old she left the ranch with her parents and moved to Gayville. She graduated from Gayville High School in 1942 and married John Kaufman Jr. that same year. In the 1950's they moved to a farm east of Yankton and resided there for 16 years. They moved back to the family farm near Gayville and later moved into Gayville. John passed away on June 15, 1997. After John's death Nedra moved to Yankton.
She was a member of Gayville Lutheran Church where she was very active in the Ladies Aid and was a founding member of the Jim River Rat Club. She was an avid Twins fan and loved watching baseball and football. Nedra also enjoyed reading Louie L'Amour, fishing, canning, flowers, raising violets, traveling, and hand writing letters.
Survivors include her daughter, Alana (Bill) Tamisiea of Yankton; five grandchildren: Kristi and Terry Van Hauen and their children Cooper and Spencer of Knoxville, Iowa; Steph Tamisiea and Dave Hosmer and their children Ella and Harper of Yankton; Kyle and Chastity Kaufman and their children Connor and Chloe of Tucson, Arizona; Travis and Rosie Kaufman and their children Tanner, Conner, and Annie of Firestone, Colorado; and Jeremy and Nicole Tamisiea and their children Christopher, Andrew, and Allison of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She is also survived by her special friend Jim Pryor of Ridgecrest, California; and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Jr.; son Kerry Kaufman, brother, Dwylan Gardner; and great granddaughter, Katie Kaufman.
