He was a son of the late Emma (Johns) and Nicholas Pappas, of Wilkes-Barre, and attended Coughlin High School.
Eddie was employed by the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and retired after 25 years of service as maintenance supervisor.
He was a former member of the Rockin' Cruisers Car Club and loved working on all things mechanical. There was nothing he couldn't fix, nothing he couldn't learn and accepted any challenge to figure things out. After both a flood and a fire destroyed his home in Kingston, he moved his family to the Back Mountain in 1976 and resided in Dallas Township and, most recently, Trucksville. Ed loved working in his yard and garden, and enjoyed bird watching at his numerous feeders in his yard, his faithful Golden Retriever, Missy, always by his side.
He will be deeply missed by his entire family, who was with him at the time of his very peaceful passing. The evening of his death was followed by a remarkable clear and calm sunset, as if to honor the end of his time with us!
Ed was preceded in death by sister Claire Brelsford; brothers Gene, George and Jimmy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan, with whom he recently celebrated 40 years of marriage; brother Richard Pappas, of Wilkes-Barre; daughters Debbie Teller and Brenda Wilson and their families, both of Nebraska; Christine Organek and family, of Trucksville; sons Donald Williamson and family, of Plains; David Williamson and family, of Kingston; and Paul Williamson and family, of Wilkes-Barre Township; as well as many nieces, nephews and grandchildren, and most recently, his great-grandchild, Noah.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Dallas. Friends and family may call at that time.∼He's not buried in that grave yet. His ashes will be buried there with his wife, Joan, when she passes.
