Mrs. John Wehrend
Grace Wehrend, 72, of 1014 Daniels street NW, widow of John Wehrend and a Cedar Rapids resident five years, died at her home at 5:15 a.m. Saturday following a long illness.
Born Aug. 28, 1877, in Schleswig Holstein, Germany, she came to the United States at the age of 4. She lived in Alburnett for 30 years before coming to Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mildred G. Tiedmann of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Virginia M. Kromminga of Monticello; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Mayden of Des Moines, Mrs. August Barton of Dallas Center and Mrs. Lillian Gunderson of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; a brother, Fred Sehmann, of Wichita Falls, Texas; three granddaughters and one grandson.
She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church at Alburnett and a member of the women's missionary society of that church.
Services will be conducted in the Turner chapel at a time to be announced later. Burial will be in Lafayette cemetery at Lafayette. Friends may call at the chapel.
