J. Jackson Burns, Esq., died at his home near Clintonville, this county, last Saturday, the 17th inst. aged 87 years, and was buried at the burying ground near his home on Monday. His wife preceded him to the grave some years ago, but he leaves two sons--Marshall Burns and L R Burnes and two daughters--Mrs. T. Crane and Mrs Laura McClung surviving. Mr Burns was a prominent man in the Meadows, and was always regarded as an excellent citizen. He had been a member of the Methodist Church for many years. He was the last of the old men who lived on the Kanawha turnpike between Lewisburg and Mountain Cove in 1861. Mr. Burn's grandfather, James Burns, was killed by the Indians in the fight at Fort Donnelly, in Rader's Valley, in 1777.
