Blanche Andrus Howes
---Blanche Andrus Howes, 87, of 353 N. Kalamazoo Ave., died Monday, Dec. 21, at Marshall Manor, where she had been in failing health for the past two years.
---Friends may call at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jeanne Randels of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at West Clarendon Cemetery near Homer. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Michigan Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
---Mrs. Howes was born April 22, 1894, in Clarendon Township to Clarence E. and Clara I. (Sherman) Andrus. She resided there for 45 years, until moving to Augusta in 1939. While living there, she was employed as a nurses aide at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Ft. Custer. She moved to Marshall in 1952 and has lived here since. She was a nurses aide at Oaklawn from 1952 until retiring in 1964. her first husband, Gilbert W. Blue, preceded her in death in 1938 and her second husband, Harry W. Howes also preceded her in death in 1952.
---Mrs. Howes was a former Clarendon Township treasurer. She was a member of the Gleaner Lodge and a past member of the Rebekah Lodge in Augusta. She belonged to Trinity Episcopal Church.
---Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert T. (Beryl) Kempf and Mrs. William A. (Bernadine) Earl, both of Marshall; a son, Willis Blue of Clarendon Township; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. her brothers, Ward, Ora and Percy Andrus all preceded her in death.
