Randolph P. "Randy" Gros

GROS Randolph P. "Randy" Gros, 46, was lifted into God's arms on Saturday, September 1, 2012 due to ALS.

Beloved husband of Deborah Englande Gros and loving and devoted father of Stephen Michael Gros, Ashley Englande Gros and Ryleigh Englande Gros. Son of Gladys Kivell Gros; brother of Gregory M. Gros (Carol Ann) and Allen T. Gros (Gretchen); son-in-law of Andrew J. Englande, Jr. (A.J.) and Bonnie Englande; brother-in-law of Andy and Lori Englande, Kevin and Allyson Englande; uncle of Jennifer and Jessica Gros, Garrett and Allison Gros, Drew and Alex Englande and Maggie Guidry.

He is preceded in death by his father Raymond R. Gros, Jr.; grandfathers Raymond R. Gros and Milton J. Kivell; grandmothers Frances K. Hebert and Myrtle D. Barrios. Randy touched the lives of many and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Before relocating after Hurricane Katrina to Madisonville, Randy was a life-long resident of St. Bernard Parish and a 1983 graduate of Chalmette High School.

He was a pipefitter/welder with Exxon Mobile Refinery and a 1995 graduate of Local Union 60 Plumbers and Steamfitters.

He was a former member of the Andrew Jackson Lodge 428. Randy was always a "friend in need," a hardworking family man and when it came to mechanics, he had an unbelievable talent of "hands on" problem solving.

He enjoyed motorcross racing, playing a guitar and restoring classics, but his passion was surfing. It is only fitting that he spent his last days watching boats and swimmers in the Gulf waters that he loved so much.

The Gros Family wishes to thank the many friends and family members who gave their overwhelming support and care to Randy and Debbie especially during these past few months.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, Covington, LA on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 3:00 PM with visitation on Saturday from 12:00 noon until service time.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery.

Published in The Times-Picayune from September 5 to September 6, 2012.
