MRS. LENA CHECKSFIELD, 84, formerly of 337 N. Midler Ave., died Friday at Crouse-Irving Hospital after a short illness.
A native of Oneida, she lived here 48 years. She was active in the Red Cross and was a member of Willett Memorial Wesleyan Methodist Church.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Edith Jayne, Mrs. Edward English and Mrs. Anne Craver of Syracuse, Mrs. Walter Carpenter of Chittenango and Mrs. Michael Patell of Fairmount; three sons, Henry Checksfield of Baldwinsville, George Checksfield of Syracuse and Robert Checksfield of Auburn; 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Goddard & Crandall Funeral Home, 3111 James St., the Rev. Wayne Wager, officiating. Burial will be in DeWitt Cemetery.
