Ed was an accountant. He was unable to have children of his own due to contracting malaria during WWII. He raised two step-daughters. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a Captain and in intelligence and unable to share information with the family for many years. He kept a diary from age 16 until just prior to his death, with the exception of his time in the military. He was stationed in the mid-east and serving with the British Armed Forces there. He met and spent a small amount of time with Dwight D. Eisenhower, while serving. To date, the family does not know what his role was during the war. He graduated from Miami University, Ohio, and played football for Bradford High School and in college. He traveled to China as a merchant mariner upon his graduation from college. Ed was an outstanding athlete and competent musician and he loved to play golf! He also was an avid Bridge player. His various jobs for Coca-cola, Canada Dry, etc. meant he traveled much. He eventually settled in Ojai, California, where he lived from 1961 until his death in 1987. He worked for Ventura Coastal Corporation as their accountant and his office overlooked the ocean, the Ventura Pier specifically. Upon his death, he was cremated and his ashes scattered in the ocean that he viewed every day. He is memorialized on a stone on the Ventura Pier. He was a quiet, humble and truly decent man.
