BURLINGTON - Mr. E.T. Adams, 90, of 2167 Canterbury Drive, Burlington, died at the Hospice Home on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at 12:15 a.m.
A native of Henderson, he was the husband of the late Josephine Stokes Adams and the son of Wesley T. Adams and Alton Rooker Adams, both deceased.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He retired from Rose's Variety Stores and later worked in the BurMill Stores. E.T. was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where he was a member and teacher of the Workers' Sunday School Class. He was a former member of the Sanford Lion's Club.
Survivors include daughter, Vicki Adams Isley and husband Jerry of Elon; son, Tommy L. Adams and wife Ruth of Columbia, S.C.; brother, W. T. Adams Jr. of Greensboro; and three grandchildren, Kimrey Isley, Kyle Isley and Karen Tarbush.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Thomas Adams; and two sisters, Blanche Forsythe and Jean West.
The funeral service will be conducted at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Lee Roy Pittard III, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
