Melvin Lee Peterson, 77, of Medford, died Thursday, August 19, 2004 at his home.

Family and friends may pay their respects between noon and 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Memory Gardens Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m., officiated by Pastor Williams Lehmann of St. Peters Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 10 Crater Lake Avenue, Suite 10, Medford, OR 97504.

Melvin was born July 16, 1927 in Wolsey, SD. From South Dakota, he moved to the Rogue Valley in 1936.

In Reno, NV on August 21, 1964 he married Delores Rose. He passed away 2 days before his 40th Anniversary.

He was an Ashland Ranger District volunteer, assistant manager at Desert Paradise RV Park in Yuma, AZ. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and the outdoors.

He worked for Bernards Floor Covering for 14 years. He and his brother, Robert Peterson, owned Specialty Contractor, Inc. for 28 years.

Survivors include: his wife Delores Peterson of Medford; two daughters, Melody Lee Peterson of Medford, and Cheryl Ann Maertz of Central Point; Robin Ray Rossi of Central Point; brother, Robert Peterson of Medford; and grandchildren: Mellisa Rogers, Kianna Rossi, Helena Rossi, Talhia Rossi, Justin Peterson, Aaron Peterson, Donald Maertz and Dalton Maertz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reimer Henry Peterson and Marguerita Caroline (Graham) Peterson.
