Funeral services were held Monday
morning, September 24, at 9
o'clock for Joseph Herman Luken at
the Assumption Catholic church at
Merrill by Rev. Zeno Reising.
Mr. Luken was born July 12, 1870,
at Dubuque, Iowa, died Thursday,
September 20, at his home in Merrill.
As a young boy Mr, Luken moved
from Dubuque to Lincoln township
and farmed there with his parents
for a few years and then moved to
LeMars where he attended high
school.
He was married to Katherine
Ann Salentinc April 28, 1895, at LeMars
in the St. Joseph Catholic
church by Rev. Meis.
He leaves to mourn his passing his
wife, Katherine, one brother. Will
Luken of Coleman, S. D.; four sons,
A. W. Luken of Sioux City, Gregory
Luken of Urbana, Iowa, Earl Luken
of Marshall, Minn., and L. R, Luken
of LeMars, who has just returned
from the Pacific. Also five grandchildren,
three of LeMars, one of
whom is in the service and has just
returned to his camp to finish his
boot training, and two of Marshall,
Minn.
Mr. Luken was a friend to all and
his funeral services were largely attended.
