Mineral - Wiley J. (Jay) Sparkman, 91, a resident of the Mineral-Morton area since 1909, died Wednesday morning in a Morton rest home.
Born Nov. 28, 1881, in Hindman, Ky., Mr. Sparkman was a retired maintenance worker employed by the state. He was also a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church, Morton, where he served as deacon.
He is survived by five sons, Elmer J. and Ernest, both of Morton; Paul, Tacoma; Willard, Temecula, Calf., and Richard, at home, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Mineral Presbyterian church with the Rev. Ruford Williams officiating. Internment will follow at the Mineral Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Brown Mortuary Service.
