Harriette Williams Flynt, 87, loving wife, mother, and grandmother went to be with the Lord September 6, 2012. She was the daughter of Rubye Estelle Hall Williams and Marvin Davidson Williams. Harriette was born at home in Decatur, Georgia and grew up in Inman Park and Peachtree Hills. She attended Atlanta Girls High and graduated from Decatur Girls High. Her family traveled with her father's work as a Civil Engineer throughout the Southeast and Southwest, where she met her husband, Charles Nathan "Red" Flynt, while living in Corpus Christi, Texas. They were married at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church on New Year's Day, 1944, and settled in Atlanta after War World II was over. Harriette and Red owned and operated Garden Hills Pharmacy on Peachtree Road for many years. She freely volunteered at her children's schools, in the community, and at her church. "Mama Hut" leaves behind her loving family: two daughters and sons-in-laws, Lynda Lee and Frank Purvis and Charlette and Paul Howell; four grandchildren, Melanie Purvis Hahn and husband Patton, Flynt Purvis and wife Nancy, Lynlee Howell, and Paul "Trey" Howell; and four great grandchildren, Cameron Hahn, Patton Hahn, Carson Hahn, and Reid Purvis; as well as her "third" daughter Marilyn Edlund Greene and husband Jerry; Marilyn's children, Merrick Greene Jackson and husband Stephen, and Mason Greene and wife Grace; Marilyn's grandchildren, Mary Griffin Jackson and Stephen Jackson. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, Sandy Springs, with Dr. Ron Ervin officiating.
