J.M. goodwin, Pioneer Citizen Passes Away

J.M. (Nat) Goodwin, 78, died at his home two miles north on the highway on Tuesday evening. Mr. Goodwin had not been in good health for some time and contracted pneumonia last Saturday. A native of the Arkadelphia, he moved to the Bethsadia community and thence to his present home. Mr. Goodwin was a scientific farmer and was active in political affairs of the county and state for many years. He was a pioneer citizen and one of the best known men in the county. He was also an outstanding school leader throughout his life.
Funeral and burial took place at Mt. Zion at eleven o'clock Thursday morning. The deceased was a member of the West Cullman Baptist Church. Revs. B.E. Fulmer, J.E. Marion and Brown officated. Moss-Scheuing was in charge. Surviving are his widow and the following children Chester of Birmingham; Ezra, Levert, Carl, and Frank, of Cullman and Mrs. Ruby McCalman and Mrs. Pearl Brown.
