JAMES SCOTT CLARK. James Scott Clark was born July 14, 1843, In the state of Indiana. At the age of twelve he moved with his parents lo Macomb, Illinois, where he grew to manhood. In 1862 ho enlisted in tho Union army, in Company A, 54th Volunteers. He returned home in 1865 and in 1866 he was married to Mary A. Matthews. To this union the following children were born, of which four are sill living: John W. Clark, of Arkansas City, Kansas, James Frank Clark, of Berthoud, Colorado, Mrs. Effie P. Steele, of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Thomas B. Clark, of Hohie, Kansas. James E. Clark passed away in Infancy and his mother, Mary A. Clark, wife of James S. Clark passed away November 2, 1889. Mr. Clark united with the United Presbyterian church early in life, in which church he held his membership when he passed away at the home of his sons near Arkansas City. The funeral of James Scott Clark was held at the United Brethren church of this city at 10 o'clock, Apr. 4, 1919, the services being conducted by the pastor, Rev. Thompson. The interment was at the River View Cemetery, the services at the grave being in charge of the G. A. R.
