Wife of Joseph Abels. Martha's gravestone has an inscription declaring her "Ohio's Gold Star Mother".
This was because she had four sons enlisted in the Armed Services during World War I, three of whom fought overseas; two sons, Cecil and Grover, were killed in action.

Survived by son, Charles Abels of Arizona, and daughter, Blanche Acker of Ohio.
