Mrs. Mary Patricia "Pat" Hortman, 85, of Brunswick, MD, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012, at the Kline Hospice House. She was the beloved wife of William Hortman for 66 years.Born April 24, 1927, in Brunswick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Earl Thomas and Helen Frances Karn Cage.Mrs. Hortman was a 1944 graduate of Brunswick High School and graduated from Franklin School of Science with her medical technician degree. Pat worked as a librarian and started the first library in 1963 in Brunswick, where she worked for 29 years. Pat was one of the oldest members who attended the Bethany Lutheran Church, Brunswick. She loved cats, sewing with her daughter and the library.In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Joyce Oland and husband Arthur of Statesville, NC; three grandsons, Zachary L. Oland and wife Heather of Statesville, NC, Nils T. Oland of Statesville, NC, and Quinn J. Oland of Fairfax, VA; and great-granddaughter Teagan E. Oland. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens at 2:30 p.m. Pastor LaVern Rasmussen will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethany Lutheran Church, 109 First Ave., Brunswick, MD 21716. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.staufferfuneralhome.com.
