James Benjamin "J.B." Russell, age 70, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, April 4, 1991, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

A native of Waynesboro, GA; son of Doyle Daniel Russell (1889–1970) and Willie McCorkle Russell (1898–1981); husband of Juanita Lowe Russell (1923–2007).

Co-founder and president of J.B. Russell and Son Construction Company; a member of Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church, a member of the Lone Oak Masonic Lodge No. 372, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his son, Danny E. Russell; daughter, Sherry Kay Williams; brothers, Jack Felton Russell (1922–1998) and Bill Russell (1928–2003); sisters, Betty Russell Dixon (1906-1973), Frances Russell Drummond, Lillian Pearl Russell Menger (1912-2005), and Myrtice Russell Boaz (1916–1997); and four grandchildren.

Also predeceased by his siblings, Theodore Roosevelt Russell (1910–1969), Ruth Russell Smoot (1914–1987), Miles Edward Russell (1924–1925), and Doyle Daniel Russell (1936–1981).

Visitation was held on Saturday at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.

Services were held at the funeral chapel on Sunday; burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials could be made to Gravely United Methodist Church, Spartanburg, SC, or to Hospice Special Needs Fund, Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC.
