O'Brien, Thomas-Funeral services for Mr. O'Brien, 73 who passed away Saturday at a local hospital, were held today at 10 a. m. at mass in St. Francis Church. A former owner of the Lebec Hotel, he resided at 1117 H Street, Bakersfield. The Reverend Leo J. Beacom officiated and the interment was in the family plot, Union Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Rollin Laird, Dr. William J. McDonald, Timothy E. J. Sullivan, Hugh Sill, Hillman Arms, and P. J. O'Brien. Honorary pallbearers were Mel Smith, Harry Frany, Alfred Harrel, Frank Hutt, L. L. Bateman, Frank Sexton, Philip A. Klipatein, and James Arp. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Orville Mathews, of Bakersfield and Mrs. Charles Morris of Los Angeles: a son, Thomas O'Brien of Bakersfield; two sisters, Miss Ann O'Brien and Miss Alice O'Brien of Bakersfield; and a neice Mrs. W. J. Grant of Belridge.
